So I've been...

Let's see. I created a testing blog to see if I can get my former layout working. I need to somehow integrate the new movable type coding with the old. Meaning I need to find out what goes where and why it goes there and what codes have changed to something else. See, before they just put pretty much everything into one template. Now it's broken up over many and the main index is simply pulling all the different templates into itself. Some of the classes with the css has changed and that means unless I disregard all the great things in MT4 (which would be a mistake to do) I have to rework everything.

Or I could just start new. I was thinking it might be possible to do a layered background. I could simply replace the header and footer banners with my stuff, change the colors to match whatever I choose and then add some form of background image that sits in an exact position. It sounds workable when I think about it and I just might be able to make it happen. Now. I just have to figure out if I can make a widget to add the blogs I read to it. I don't have any of them in my favorites, I just come here and click on the links. Made things quicker for me.

I'm off. I'm going to see what sort of interesting thing I can come up with. Laters.

So I've taken all the entries except the one stating that things are up and running again and unpublished them.  I think it looks kind of silly to have all those missing entries.  I've gone from over 300 to less than 125.  Sort of pitiful, don't you think?

I also think that I should be able to get the Yoruichi layout working again with this version of MT.  I hope so anyway.  A lot of the layout codes are the same as from 3.35 and I shouldn't have to adjust too much.

I'm still agitated with my previous host but I don't care to discuss it.  Apparently their technical department and I have interpretation issues along with their billing department.  Let's hope I don't have any issues with the new one.

I suppose one good thing that has happened out of all of this is that I finally upgraded my MT.  I now have installed the latest and greatest version: 4.23.  It's beautiful and it's easy to use.  I tried several times to get B2 to work with subdomains but I'm obviously no good with PHP and since Fantastico was the one installing it and not me, I didn't know where to edit what.  With MT all I had to do was copy the files to where they needed to go, create the Database and change the permissions on the cgi files.  After that I was set.  Oh yeah, and I have to remember to update the path to mt-static.  For some reason it doesn't work without being the full path in the stylesheets.

Ok, well.  I am off for now.  I have cleaning to do because we are going to have an extra kid this weekend.  Woot!  Christmas is almost here.  The tree is so pretty.  I'll have to take a photo or two of it and put them up.

Until next time.

Sort of back up

Ok, well...  Disillusioned and Otherside are back up and running.  I have several entries missing on Disillusioned but Otherside is completely intact.  Please do remember that Otherside has Mature Content and shouldn't be viewed with the kiddies around.

Anyway.  If I find an exported file with the rest of the entries I'll be shocked.  I know I have backups of the entire site prior to being suspended by my previous host due to phishing they wouldn't help me prevent but I didn't export the entries often enough.  I will definitely be doing that once a month now.

Yes, I am with a new host and I've upgraded my MT to the latest version of 4.23.  Why am I sticking with MT you ask?  Well because it worked.  That's right, it worked the first time around this time.  I only had to fix some things in the stylesheets to make the styles show up on the published blog, but other than that, I didn't have to screw around looking through PHP files trying to tell it where to publish like I had to do with B2.

I have given up on B2Evolution altogether.  I had thought to switch to them awhile back and it didn't happen because I didn't have MySQL at the time.  Now I have everything I need and HostMonster even has Fantastico DeLuxe to install it for me but I couldn't get it to do multiple blogs and everything I read didn't make any sense.  So I tried Wordpress but it doesn't have all the features I want, including multiple blogs.  Movable Type has everything I could ask for, now I just need to learn how to update the templates to my own designs.  For now, the Cityscape of Tokyo will be here.  Nightmares and waking up thinking I solved the B2 problem will do that to a girl.

Photos aren't working and being as the entries are so old there aren't really all that many.  I'll either have to figure out which photos are in the blog or simply delete those entries and start anew.

I still have to relink the daily reads and so forth, but stay tuned!

About Disillusioned

Disillusioned is a personal view of the world around me. A lot of information will be about books I read, or shows/movies I watch but sometimes there will be something that simply has to be pointed out and shredded. With Joy.

Disillusioned is best viewed in 1280x800 resolution.

To contact me you can email me by way of disillusioned at sweetly-evil.org, comments are open for business.

About Chelle

Yeah, that's me! I am 25 34, I live in Northeast Ohio; I have one beautiful teenage daughter and one newly lovable cat. I enjoy reading, television, anime and annoying my daughter. I'm also trying to learn Japanese because I want to visit Japan someday. Yes, I'm over 30 and I like anime, do you have an issue with that?

If you really wish to know even more about how fantastic I truly am, here you go: About Me

About This Layout

This layout features a blending of Zen and Disillusioned. Everything is calm, tranquil, at peace. Yet, some days I feel very disillusioned about the reality around me because it doesn't contain these things, nor do I. There is so much chaos, so much anger and hate going around this world. It affects each and every one of us, like the movement of butterfly wings can cause tsunamis. The image used remains with the copyright of the owner. The font used is called Dali.
