The End

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

So I finally finished my Final Fantasy 12 game. The game was great and there was a lot of stuff I didn’t do so I might even play it again. I’ve started playing Kingdom Hearts 2 and the Little Lady beat it yesterday. I’m so proud of her. She took several months break from it because she was having such a hard time beating the last guy. She asked if she could play when she got home yesterday so I saved my game and let her. Then it took her about an hour and a half, perhaps two hours, as she repeatedly died and continued to play.

The ending was pretty fantastic though, so it was worth it. The ending for FF12 was great, too. I can’t wait until 13 comes out. We watched the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 and we are a little confused about it because it doesn’t look anything like the previous two. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 are both amazing visually and story-wise - but then that’s what you get when you work with the amazing people who created Final Fantasy (Square) and Disney. Now, I’ll be completely honest. I don’t care for Disney at all really. Neither does my daughter. I believe it has to do with my childhood, which wasn’t all princesses and pink ponies. I know, shocking, right?

I grew up in the age of pink ponies and Barbies and Disney. I did end up getting into Barbies with my best friend though ( I do blame her for the collection of clothes I ended up with ) and I remember hauling a garbage bag full of stuff for us to play when I went over to her house ( she did the same ). We weren’t your normal Barbie players though. There had to be a STORY. There had to be a LIFE. We didn’t do the ‘I’m going to grow up and get married and have babies’ bit. We did the “I’m gonna go go college, have fun, get a great job and meet a great guy” storyline.

Our imaginations never did collide with our reality though, for the most part. Perhaps we should have been writing instead of playing.

Anyway. Two people I know, one being my best friend, are lovers of all things Disney. I guess I just never got the whole ‘the princess finds her prince and they fall in love at first sight and after some serious struggling with some evil wench they come together and are forever happy’. I knew it wasn’t like that at all in real life.

So why do I like the Kingdom Hearts games? Because they skew that fantasy a bit. Everything isn’t all happily ever after! You have to fight to be free and you have to fight the darkness to have the light. You have to keep from giving in to your despair and fight one more day in order to preserve what you love. Will what you love be the same after fighting for it? No, but it’s even more precious because you were able to preserve it.

I love Final Fantasy games and I love Kingdom Hearts and I will always play these games. I may not be the best gamer out there, but I do love a good story and these games provide me not only with good story lines (most of the time) but they also give a great visually stimulating story that I’m involved in making happen. Yeah, it’s just a game, but if it makes me feel better, then that’s not so bad, right?

Wow did it rain!

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

See, I knew if I took a photo of the clouds it would rain. It rained for like two days, almost non-stop. It just took a couple of days to kick in. So, need some rain? Take a photo of that cloud up there and it’ll rain on you. I don’t think they like being photographed.

Should Be Cleaning, but...

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Yes, I should have been doing dishes the last hour and a half (it wouldn’t have taken that long) but instead I was watching the amusing videos over at SlateV: What Was I Thinking?.

Makes me happy that, for the most part, I have a good, healthy, relationship. We can talk, we can argue, we can laugh, we can spend time apart and it’s all good. At least, compared to some of these stories, I have it fabulous!

Basically, I allowed myself to be sidetracked because i have my eye doctor appointment today for my check up with these lenses. I am loving them and rarely feel them in my eyes. Generally, I’m not even feeling them in my eyes, it’s usually something that got into my eyes somewhere in the process of putting them in, even though I’ve cleaned them and scrubbed my hands. I don’t know why or how it happens; I’m just grateful it doesn’t happen every single time.

I’m going to be doing my chores when I get back. I won’t be gone all that long. She’ll look at my eyes and I’ll be a good patient. I don’t know why, but I can handle eye doctors. It’s physicians I don’t care for. I hate being poked and prodded. When it comes to my eyes though, I am a model patient. I sit there and blink when you tell me, hold my eye open for as long as you need me to and look in the direction you want me to for as long as you want me to. I haven’t been to an eye doctor yet who hasn’t complimented me in some way. Then again, my eyes have been going downhill since I was 8. I blame genetics.

Other than the eye appointment I don’t have any other plans, so I’ll be working in the kitchen today and getting it back to being clean. Again. Later.

On my Google page I have the Slate.com widget that tells me the latest articles going on, but since I don’t visit my Google page every single day (I know, how awful, right?) I don’t always read the many things I link to every day. Which is good because not everything gets updated every single day. There are some widgets that will have the same 5 or 9 (depending on what I have to set for) article links for weeks. I don’t know, perhaps the widget is broken?

Anyway, I read Dear Prudence and watch the cute little cartoon vidoes, too. What can I say? Some people out there are simply messed up! Reading the column actually makes me feel better, or at the very least, normal. (I’m FAR from normal, truly, but these people make me THINK I’m normal for all of 5 minutes.)

I’ve also been through all but one of my daily reads (the link isn’t loading, not sure if it’s them or me) and I’m listening to Slacker again. I’m going to have to stop listening at some point because, even though it isn’t a bandwidth hog, there are 5 of us using the same connection and we seriously don’t want to go over the stupid Cap that Comcast put on everyone. Bastards.

I also saw a link to the lovely view of our universe via APOD: Mauna Kea Milky Way Panorama. This is beautiful. I’d love to see this in person.

There are several other things that I have on my Google page, such as, a page dedicated to About.com. I have Web Design, Anime and even the Computing Center on there. You never know what kind of tidbits you can pick up from reading such articles. Yet on my main page I have things like FoxNews, two different weather widgets (while we have a specific mailing address our temp usually coincides with the other, so I get both - currently there’s a 4 degree difference between the two), the requisite Clock and Calendar and even How To of the Day - expanded to show 9 links. I’ve read a few How-To articles thanks to this widget, things I wouldn’t have thought to look up.

Now you don’t have to have a Google page. It’s just my preferred method. There are also other places like Yahoo and MSN. I just use Google because my main email addresses are with them. It’s so much easier to have everything in one place. I also use their Document feature to keep important things (such as my mom’s obituary) that I don’t want to lose yet I don’t want to have sitting somewhere in the house either.

My Google page also let’s me read some pretty interesting quotes - sometimes funny, sometimes serious - and every now and then I find one that I agree with. I even have the Sci-Fi Wire widget which allowed me to find out about Stargate Atlantis ending after the previous season. I immediately informed Honey who started doing a little more research. Supposedly Stargate Universe is supposed to come out but we haven’t heard anything regarding that at all anymore. Perhaps Stargate is dead, it did have a good life. I would have liked to know who really won with Atlantis, though.

WIth my far-ranging tastes from reading about Sci-Fi shows to Science Daily articles Googe helps me keep everything in one place. What do you use to keep yourself updated on the current happenings in the world today?

Here are the chickens I talk about now and then:

chickens.jpg

They can be quite entertaining during the days they are allowed to run around the property. The rooster is being a rooster so that means we should have chicks in the spring! If/when there are chicks, I’ll take photos of them, too.

skyleft.jpg

This is what the sky looked like this afternoon when I stepped out to take a photo. I wish I had taken photos of the sky yesterday. Or earlier today. It was so much prettier then. We need the rain so taking a photo of the clouds should make them rain more, right? It always happened that way with my mom.

Referrers & Search Strings

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I’m slightly confused about some of the referrers I’ve seen in my usage stats. How is it that people can come here from a site that doesn’t even exist? I click on the site and it takes me to one of those “Domain for Sale” pages with the ads. Another one says it’s from a topic that no longer exists on a forum I used to visit from time to time.

Search strings? WOW. Someone found me (and I tested it) by entering “dont try to run away youve been warned yesterday”. Apparently a post of mine - the one regarding my new contacts - had something about my eyes trying to jump out of my skull and run away. Oddly enough this search put me on the first page of a Google search. I was like 5th or so in the list.

Someone also found me by doing a search for another website that is a “-evil.org”. I’m not going to mention who they are because I didn’t care for their site and I did read through a bit of it. Not worth the time.

What sort of oddball things do you find in your usage stats? I know there are some people who get hits by some really messed up phrases, so share them! Laters.

Stackburgers

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

There was this restaurant from the area I grew up in that had these amazing double cheesburgers they called “Stackburgers”. When you get one you think there is no way in hell you’re going to be able to eat the whole thing. It’s two beef patties with cheese, lettuce and some secret recipe sauce. I wish I knew what the hell that sauce was but they wouldn’t tell us - it was a secret recipe and all. Even if the restaurant hadn’t closed years ago there’d be no way for me to get one living thousands of miles away now.

I miss those things. They were SO good. I can honestly say that was the best burger I have ever had in my entire life and even though I love the Famous Star from CJ’s with no pickle… it’ll never top whatever the hell it was they put in the sauce on the Stackburger.

I started thinking of this because I made myself a cheeseburger for dinner tonight. Honey and the Little Lady are having biscuits and gravy (which I dislike country gravy) so I am having this instead.

I don’t have any onions and the tomatoes are far from ripe so I put lettuce on my cheeseburger. I wish I had that recipe. I really do.

Where've I been today?

| 2 Comments | No TrackBacks

No where really. I logged into my Twitter page and looked read what I missed from those I’m following. Then I finally got logged into email and saw all the people who added me as a friend over at BlogCatalog (Thank you).

After logging into my Slacker.com radio station (yeah I know, but my bandwidth usage has been low so I can listen) I realized I could add Twitter and Facebook to the BlogCatalog thing, so I did that. I had a hard time figuring out what the heck I was supposed to find on my FB page in order to do it, but I figured it out. Facebook likes to hide those things, sheesh.

Afterwards I logged into Myspace and updated my status there, too. On Facebook I added my url to Myspace (because for whatever reason FB confuses me and I have a teen that rocks tech support regarding Myspace). I also like the fact that I can add stuff to Myspace and NOT have to invite friends in order to do so. I don’t think things work so well like that at Facebook. I mean if you see something I have and want it, you can get it yourself, right? Right.

Now I’m sitting here listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers and sipping my vanilla coffee. (Remember the Vanilla Refined Sugar that Honey’s sister gave us? OMG it’s sooo good!!)

I haven’t read any articles yet, but I am on my way through my Daily Reads (top right column) because I know that Venomous Kate has updated and that others may have as well. By the time I get through everything I will have to go get the Little Lady at school (early Wednesday).

Two more days before I go back to the eye doctor to have her check my hard lenses out. Let me tell you, I am loving them. I should have switched years ago (apologies for NOT listening to my sister on that count…) but hey, I’m known to be stubborn - it’s a family trait.

Off to read! Later.

MySpace Music

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

I’ve been having fun lately with finding different videos and songs in MySpace music. I finally updated my music player to contain 10 songs and I know you’re just dying to know what kind of crazy music I listen to, right?

Well, if you don’t know, I’m a lover of different forms of music. I like music all the way from Sarah McLachlan to Eminem to Marilyn Manson and back again. I will (reluctantly) admit to liking some country songs. But don’t tell anyone I said that.

Here’s what’s on my MySpace Music Profile:

  • Trigun - Theme: Trigun is an anime and it’s theme kicks some major ass.
  • Korn - Freak on a Leash: Because I really like this song. It almost makes me feel normal.
  • Bush - The Chemicals Between Us: I loved this song from the first time I heard it. I would have preferred putting on When the Cables Sleep but it wasn’t available.
  • Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy: This song is amazing. I almost put on Possession, but I like this one just a teeny bit more. I may change that in the future.
  • Audioslave - I am the Highway: I almost had to flip a coin between this one and Like a Stone. I love both very much and I always sing with them when I’m alone.
  • Mushroomhead - Destroy the World Around Me: Because given the chance, I probably would. Don’t look at me like that.
  • Theory of a Deadman - Bad Girlfriend: Heh. It makes me want to dance, ok?
  • Ikimono Gakari - Bluebird: It’s an older theme from Naruto Shippuden that I can actually sing to even though it’s in japanese.
  • Marilyn Manson - Tainted Love: Just because I had to. I love his version and the original, but the video makes me laugh.
  • Linkin Park - Bleed it Out: Love this song. Makes me feel normal. Don’t ask.

What’s on your playlist? Who do you use to listen to music online? Usually I use Slacker.com but we are trying to use less bandwidth. I haven’t used 5 gigs personally yet this week and I am proud of myself.

If you want to listen to my playlist for whatever reason: MySpace - My Profile. Yes this will open in a new window.

EDIT:

This issue has been resolved. If anyone ever has this issue, here is how you fix it:

Go to your Templates, then look at the template in question (this situation means looking at the Entry template). The Entry template was set to “DISABLE” which basically means “do not publish”.

Click on the title of the template to go to the code. Then below the code click on “Template Options” and where it says “Do Not Publish” change to “Static”. There ya go, fixed.

All of a sudden Movable Type 4.23 has stopped publishing individual entries. I have it set for Individual Entries. I have it set to publish in the SiteRoot and all of my CGI files are chmod’d correctly. When I tell it to publish and choose all files it runs through the publishing for Categories, Monthly, Indexes and Pages but not Individual Entries.

If there is anyone out there that can help me with this issue I’ll post a link to your blog or website.

Please email me: disillusioned at sweetly-evil.org. Since you can’t leave a comment due to this stupid issue.

I feel like everything is breaking on me today.

So I’m a cheap date, but hey with this economy you have to be! Honey took me to the Planetarium for their “Distant Planets” show where they talked about how they find the planets (technical) and show you where in the universe they are located and then show you artist renditions of what these planets may look like (very cool). With him being a student at the SRJC (Santa Rosa Junior College) he got in for 3 bucks and I got in for 5. So ok, he was the cheap date. He could have told them I was a student because he didn’t have his ID on him and they said it was ok. He didn’t though, he’s honest like that and I let him decide. I’ve used the Little Lady’s look to say she’s younger now and again (but it saved me 30 freaking bucks, so you would have, too).

Anyway, if you’re in the area and want to see a great show, you should check it out. Cheap and there are also free shows as well. Here’s a link to the website: SRJC Planetarium.

A friend asked me about GMail Notifier. She couldn’t find it to download. Do you know what a pain in the ass it is to have to Google something that should be easy to find by a link from, oh I don’t know, gmail.com? They should have a link to the freaking download page right on the login page! So I found it, sent her a link and a nice email saying I was downloading it too and that if it didn’t work with Vista (which so far it does) that I’d let her know any issues I had. Although since she just bought a new computer she probably has 64-bit whereas we have 32-bit and there might be some form of difference.

Yahoo is driving me insane. It starts up with the computer (which I’m going to shut it off) and yet when I go to use it to sign in, it goes away. Yahoo closes completely from what I can tell and I have to go through the process of opening it. Why have it start up if I’m going to have to open it anyway? Perhaps it’ll subtract a few seconds from the boot time.

Thinking of the length of boot time reminded me about my virus scanner. I used to use AVG free home edition. But I could not stand how long it took for the computer to boot. Honey found something to put on his aunt’s computer and I asked him about it. Avast also has a free version (do a google for avast home edition free) and it is so much nicer than AVG. Not only did the time it takes for the computer to fully boot drop minutes off, the virus scanner doesn’t interfere (slow the machine down to a snail’s pace) when it goes through it’s scanning. Also it comes with it’s own spyware and adware removal software built in, and it constantly runs, but I can’t tell because the computer doesn’t slow down or give me issues.

Yet today I seem to be having issues again with IE. Remember the post where I gave up on IE and made FireFox my main browser? Well it is, anything opened will go into FF. I still use IE though when I am doing things with Disillusioned and non-flash related websites. I have to watch my shows in FF because everything is pretty much Flash-based and the chat with Cafemom doesn’t work in IE after all my efforts of installing flash.

I’ve been wondering if I should upgrade to IE 8.0. Does anyone out there have 8.0 and if you do, how is it? Does it work with Vista? Is it crap and I shouldn’t bother? I wanted to uninstall IE 7 and reinstall it but I can’t find it anywhere on here in order to do that. I was hoping it would be in the remove programs list but it isn’t. I probably wouldn’t be able to find a version of 7 to download anyway, right? Anyway, I’ve got to start dishes soon. Later.

No Clue

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

For some reason there are some javascript items that simply cause Disillusioned not to load in IE. I don’t know why, but I remove them and the issue goes away. I don’t know what to do in order to make them work. Is there a movable type update regarding the javascript that I don’t know about? Well, since there isn’t any mention of it, and I am supposed to receive information regarding changes and updates, it’s got to be hidden in some deep dark corner of the web. Or perhaps it just doesn’t exist. (I’ll go with doesn’t exist.)

So I’m trying out SiteMeter. It’s over in the Affiliated widget for now. I’m sure it’ll get moved to it’s own widget if I find it worth my time. Otherwise.. I have a headache and I want another cup of coffee. I don’t know if it is just this period or if there is some issue I’m missing. I went to bed around midnight last night and slept until almost 11, yet I am feeling exhausted.

Could be the new contacts causing my fatigue. I’m seeing better in them today than I was yesterday. They aren’t as irritating today either, although on occasion my eye itches and I have to be really careful when I scratch it because I don’t want to touch or move the lens. Since it’s just the outer corner area of my eye, and the lens is tiny, I haven’t had any issues. I also have to remember not to rub my eyes! That is the difficult part. I have rubbed my eyes (due to issues with the soft lenses) almost every 10 minutes for years. Time to break the habit!

Alright, I am off for more coffee. Honey’s sister gave us this vanilla-refined sugar (it’s so good) and I don’t need much in it to get the vanilla flavor in my coffee. It’s seriously delicious. I’ll be back later.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I’m gonna steal your candy and flowers. o.0

This is a theme from Bleach that I absolutely love. Yes, it’s in Japanese, but the song is so amazing to listen to and if you sang it in english it just wouldn’t be as amazing.

HIGH & MIGHTY COLOUR - Ichirin no Hana

For those of you who need to know, “Ichirin No Hana” means “A Single Flower” and the people who uploaded it really need to fix the title in the video since I am unable to do so.

Soft vs. Hard

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

For those of you who have astigmatism and wear soft toric lenses without having a high prescription are pretty lucky folks. Those who are mostly blind like myself are not so lucky. It’s very hard to get a good set of soft lenses when you are lucky to see as it is. So today here I sit wearing my new rigid gas permeable contacts. One issue I am having is the cost of the cleaner and conditioner. It’s absolutely ridiculous what I paid for such small bottles. Luckily I can continue to use Clear Care to supplement my cleaner.

The other issue I am having is that if looks like I’m looking through something damp or foggy. I’m not used to them and it feels like there’s an eyelash sticking me in the eye. Yet I can see quite clearly. So clearly in fact that my right eye is definitely 20/20 again. My left eye is pretty damn close to 20/20.

Hopefully once I am used to wearing them I won’t have this fuzzy/foggy view anymore. I’m going to take it slow and take them out for a couple of hours every day so that my eyes don’t try to climb out of my skull and run away. (You’re not supposed to wear contacts for more than 12 hours a day people. I know, stupid, but true.)

Once I find work and get things set money-wise I’m going to start putting money away for Lasik. Even though I’ll still need contacts or glasses I won’t need such a high ass prescription. I’m off for now. Later.

Clean

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

The living room, bathroom and most of the kitchen are now clean. I have had a hot shower and therefore I am clean. 2 1/2 loads of laundry have been done. (I still have to put them away though.) I am hungry and I need to find something to eat. So I am off for food. Oh, try those muffins in the post below. I don’t think I’ll be back later. The Little Lady has an appointment for a hip x-ray and then a dance to go to and then we get extra Little Ladies so things will be a bit hectic later. So… bye for now.

Fight Against PMS

If you haven’t noticed, I put anything pms related under “Psychotherapy”.

I found a recipe for chocolate chip muffins at AllRecipes.com. Sometimes their recipes don’t seem to turn out right for us but I thought I’d go ahead and make these. The only difference is that I didn’t sprinkle the white and brown sugar on top. I am low on white sugar and it’s not good for me to waste it like that.

They’ll be done shortly and I’ll edit this post to let you know how they turn out. I’ve been semi-unconscious this evening (meaning laying in bed with my eyes closed but not asleep) because I just couldn’t hold them open again.

Ok, now the muffins are cooling on the cutting board and will be taken out in a few minutes. These seem to be more cookie or cake like than actual muffins. The batter is also much thicker than what I am used to (but then again I normally make out of the box goods) so I’m sure they’ll be good.

Even after laying down twice today I still feel like crap. I can’t stand it when I can’t figure out anything to make me feel good. Hopefully the muffins will help. Nothing else has so far today. I’m off. Later.

Edit

The muffins are good, but you need to have milk with them - not that that is a bad thing. I might have one with my coffee tomorrow.

It’s that time of the month again and this post may contain explicit content. You’ve been warned so no whining.

So I’m doing dishes and I thought about how Honey mentioned that I put all kinds of giant sharp knives in my dish water but I absolutely refuse to put the cheese grater in there. Well, yeah! The cheese grater and I have already had it out once, on accident, and I really don’t wish to have my hand go through that discomfort and loss of skin again any time soon. So when the cheese grater needs washed I either put it off until I have to do it before it annoys me or I hold it by the handle and scrub it with lots of soap and the scrub brush; then rinse it with steaming hot water. It then sits and dries (don’t want it to tear apart my dish towels) before getting put away. There it sits in the cupboard awaiting it’s next chance at me.

I can handle sharp knives in the dish water, it’s no big deal. I always put them the same way, the handles are always towards me and the pointed ends away. I know where they are in the bottom of the sink soaking while I do plates and bowls. Even my daughter is ok with knives in the water.

Today I’m washing random laundry. Random why? Because this is stuff that has been put off while we didn’t have a dryer. I put a blanket, a flat sheet and a fitted sheet (none that go together) into the washer today and I have to go throw them into the dryer.

Speaking of laundry, why is my Downy ball so hit and miss? I’ve tried throwing it in on top, I’ve tried it facing one way instead of the other, I’ve tried loosening the stopper slightly, but if it lets go it’s of its own volition and I can’t figure out rhyme or reason to it.

What else is going on? I have two dish towels. One is dirty and needs washed and the other… Dusty is so happily lounging on. I had used it for overflow of dishes (I wanted to get them washed and walk away that day) and when I put them all away he laid down on it and has a lovely smug look on his face. The point is that I used to have like 10 dish towels and I have no idea where they are. Once in awhile they surface, one or two at a time, and I hide them in the silverware drawer (who’d look for them there?) to keep the family from stealing them to clean up spills.

Other than that nothing much is really going on. I’ve got the stereo on and I’m listening to the local station. Want to tune in? You can! KXFX - The Fox - Plays rock from (I think) the 70s to today’s hits. Sometimes they get a little repetitive, but what radio station doesn’t? Enjoy!

And WTF is up with MT? For whatever reason (I’ve got to find the answer, it’s really pissing me off) my MT keeps logging me out whenever I do certain things (save or publish entries, upload photos or assets/ save pages/ sometimes when changing up templates) even if I click the “remember me” box. Ugh, anyone else have this issue? Let me know, please! Later.

Weathered

Apparently we are in a drought. Yep, California is in a drought (they are probably already rationing in the south) and we need rain. It rained for two days and then rained again last night. This morning? Covered in frost, the sun shining bright. Luckily the drought won’t affect us because we have well water. It’s not the greatest well water in the world but it’s better than having to ration! I like my hot showers and I don’t know how I’d go about shortening them.

I feel bad for the Little Lady on rainy days because instead of a regular school building they are all out-buildings (or so I call them). The classroom doors all lead outside so she has to walk in the rain from class to class. I don’t know why she doesn’t freeze her butt off during the days in the winter, but she deals with it quite nicely. Her umbrella keeps the rain off her head but she always comes home with soaked pants. The new coat she bought for herself has a really nice interior that keeps her warm, sometimes too warm. She does so much better with the cold than I do, but then again, she has at least 20 pounds on me (mostly muscle) and therefore has less issue with the changes in the weather.

I prefer the dryheat of the desert, but then the desert nights are cold due to no humidity. That is just too much cold for me as well. So here I am, in northern California where the frost laces the ground until about 9 or so in the morning, hoping that the sun warms up enough so I don’t freeze to death when I walk outside. What’s the weather like for you? Those of you out there that have snow, I do feel for you, I’m a former Ohioan!

So my computer has been taken over by the child because she wishes to use Photoshop to make something for her MySpace page. She wants to use the Animation feature that comes with it because for some reason Animation Shop that came with PaintShopPro 9 didn’t work or didn’t install onto her computer. No big deal, right?

Well, every time I’ve used the animation feature in Photoshop i have to relearn how to use it all over again. I don’t use it that often. If I want something animated I usually use Flash, which I do my Splash pages in. Unfortunately, when using Flash you have to upload a file that goes with them in order to make them work and she can’t upload that file to MySpace in order to make it work. Otherwise I’d have her doing it in Flash.

The mouse on her computer is really odd. There’s no option to have ‘single-click’ and I lowered it’s click speed as slow as it can be and it still seems to open things with a single-click. I checked the folder options and it is also on double-click in the settings and I don’t know why, but it works fine on opening a folder. When you click to select something (such as a selection box) it checks then unchecks it again before you realize it’s no longer selected. Annoying, to say the least. I see a new mouse in her future.

Her room is a mess, but that’s the life of a teenager. I’ll have to have her clean it up today or tomorrow. She does have this beautiful 19 inch flat screen monitor now and I’m going to look through my websites to see how they look on it. I hope I’m not going to be disappointed. Later.

Gave In

So I finally gave in that IE no longer loves me. Being a die-hard IE user it was a real heartbreak that I have to switch to Firefox. Not that I don’t like Firefox, it’s not a bad browser at all. I just know IE and it’s easy for me to keep up with their changes. IE and Flash are not getting along well, no matter how many times I uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot and all that good stuff. So I’ve given up on using it because I can’t get some things to work and the chat rooms at CafeMom are all flash and php based so those don’t work either anymore.

I officially changed the browser’s settings to be my default earlier this morning after dropping off the Little Lady. Goodbye for now, IE, it won’t be forever. I hope. Later.

Dear Mom at the School:

I am not pleased with you. I don’t care how big of a boat of a car you drive, you have no right to cut me off in the school parking lot. Didn’t you notice all those little things walking around? Those are called children! So when going through the school parking lot, parents who are smart (gee, like myself) drive slowly. Teenagers aren’t always accessing their common sense and you never know when one is going to run out in front of you. Which is why I drive below 10 miles per hour in the school parking lot.

You saw me coming. You saw me starting to pass the rear of your stationwagon and yet you still decided to cut me off. You did it slowly. You thought, gee, if I do this slowly she won’t dare hit me because it’ll be her fault, didn’t you? Guess what? On that point, you were wrong. If I had hit you passed the halfway point of your wagon, it would have been your fault. Want to know why I know this? I’ve spent several years working in an insurance agency. I’ve read countless claims and police reports as I entered the information into the database. It would have been your fault. You would have been considered ‘failing to yield’.

But dammit. I try to be nice and courteous to others around me and I let you go. You didn’t even acknowledge that with a smile or a wave. I hope someone does that to you so that you realize it isn’t a very nice thing to do to a mom on a rainy Friday morning who hasn’t had her coffee yet. If you had lived anywhere near me, I’d have followed your ass home and asked you to apologize because I’m in just that kind of mood.

Please be courteous in the future,
Chelle

What to say

I’m actually not sure what to say today. I ended up not having my annual when I went to the clinic today, which is just find and dandy with me. I don’t care to be poked and prodded, even though it needs to be done. I’ve been rescheduled for next month and that one I have to go to (or reschedule if it’s The Week of Dying) and due to budget cuts they couldn’t give me a full year of the pill. That’s fine. I completely understand. I urge people to please support your local Planned Parenthood. I prefer them simply because i can always be in and out when I go and I don’t have to answer stupid questions like “So why do you want to be on the pill?” Which the answer should be quite apparent, right?

I’m not entirely pleased with the people who do their scheduling over the phone, though. They try giving out appointments before the clinic is even technically open. (How can I have a 915 am appointment if the office doesn’t open until 930?) I forgot to ask, and I meant to. But whatever, my appointment in March is scheduled for 10 am.

I also have to go to the eye doctor in an hour and explain to her in some way that is understandable that I can see but I can’t see. Confusing, right? I know. I can see when I read a book, I can see what I’m writing now (but it’s blurry) and when it comes to road signs, they are blurry until I am right up on them. I’ve never had that problem before and I certainly don’t need it now. I want to start putting money aside for Lasik when I start working. I am so tired of being blind. I know it won’t completely correct my vision (due to astigmatism) but it will bring my vision back so that I don’t feel as if I’m going to be truly blind by the age of 40. Perhaps one day they’ll be able to give me eyes that will be perfect, who knows? It would be nice to have perfect vision again.

Then we are taking the little lady to the doctor regarding her leg. She’s still having some pain and now pain is starting in her other leg because she’s been compensating for the injured one. i explained that to her and told her to put ice on that one so that she wouldn’t end up being unable to walk completely. I am hoping the doctor can give her some formal excuse to be out of gym for at least 6 hours (three gym periods) to help her leg heal. They only allow three parental excuses. I asked her if she wanted me to convert to whatever religion it is that doesn’t allow her to run. (Supposedly a friend of hers is a part of such a religion?)

So today is a fairly busy day. I’ll be back later with more as it happens. I know you love up to the minute details! Later.

On the List

Today is ‘comforter’ day! Which means I am shoving comforters that are barely able to fit into the washer to get them all nice and sopping wet so that when I very carefully transfer them to the dryer I get soaked, too. But they come out warm and smelling like lavender and I just love that when I go to bed. It’s relaxing and perhaps that will help me sleep.

That’s right, I barely slept again last night. Honey was tossing and turning and talking in his sleep right along with grinding his teeth now and then. This time I didn’t abandon him to the couch but I probably should have. I don’t know what the heck he’s dreaming about (and he never remembers) but his dreams are keeping me up!

I think out of all chores laundry is the easiest one - mostly because the machines are doing most of the work for you. I hate having to fold and put away though. So perhaps vacuuming is my favorite because it doesn’t take as long and it gets me up and moving instead of sitting on my tush.

I have been trying to make an appointment for my yearly torture session, but I can’t seem to figure out why they haven’t contacted me back yet. I have go to soon, like this week! I may have to be a walk-in tomorrow and I dread that because I seriously do not want to sit there for hours on end. So now here I am sitting on hold. Hell, if they don’t have any appointments open for tomorrow, I can wait on my annual. I take good care of myself and I haven’t had any changes with my tests in years. For me, I’m normal. I’m sure if I were dying they’d have told me, right? Right?

And for some reason even though I chose english (Press 1 for English - grrr) it’s speaking Spanish in some of the ads! Why on earth would they put Spanish ads in the English speaking section? Why would someone who speaks Spanish not choose the Spanish speaking service?

Ohwell. I don’t know. My appointment is for Thursday at 930 so I won’t be here. Later.

Look! New Photo!

I killed the technorati widget mainly because I couldn't figure out how to get there from my technorati account in order to change things. I'm disillusioned about technorati anyway so they no longer matter to me. Enjoy.
