Fox has been putting out some pretty good shows lately. I enjoy Bones, House, Dollhouse and now Lie to Me.
The Little Lady and I have been watching the show online at Hulu (Fox’s FOD player dislikes us for some reason or another and tends to freeze at crucial points in the show) and we’ve been enjoying it immensely. First, if you want to get into this show, watch it from the first episode. Seriously. I love the way he recruits Ria Torres (character name) and I’d love her signing on bonus.
The main character, Cal Lightman, sort of makes you think of House. He’s outspoken and abrupt, usually it gets him the answers to whether or not someone is lying and if they are why, so it works. For the first time ever, Eli - who’s usual way of speaking is called radical honesty (he literally speaks everything with complete honesty and this includes what he’s thinking) has lied, possibly to protect his own feelings, to Ria Torres. The latest episode was pretty intense with the drama due to an author writing about the constant struggles in her native country and, while the struggles that were going on were true, the story she wrote as if it had truly happened to her, was a lie.
There are also some personal aspects to the characters. You get to know Cal’s daughter and Gillian’s husband (who’s doing some nasty stuff behind her back) along with some of the private matters going on in their lives. So run over to Fox.com or Hulu.com if Fox’s player gives you freezing issues and check out their full episodes. If you like House, you’ll like Lie to Me. Later.
