I decided to grab the camera and take photos of the roses and other flowers around the property. The ones I took of the random clumps of poppies turned out blurry so I have to retake them, along with the ones I took of our strawberry plants that have pretty green strawberries on them. I am going to buy some lemons when they are ripe and make strawberry lemonade, I swear! Anyway, these irises were planted in the shade and the reason they are so huge is because they are trying to get to where the sun is. Aren’t they such a pretty color?
These are the pink/orange roses that come back every year. They are always so pretty and they smell so good, too. It can be hard to grow roses in Ohio but they are everywhere out here in California. You can’t drive anywhere without seeing rose bushes.
Here’s a closeup of one of the yellow roses. I really like the pink/orange roses but these are beautiful, too. I think they tend to die faster than the other roses, but I think this bush is younger than the other one. That might be why, not sure.
Purple roses! What more can I say other than the fact that purple is one of my favorite colors so obviously I’m going to truly enjoy purple roses. The only thing is is that I don’t think these have a scent. If you ever come out to Sonoma County you’ll have to visit the Luther Burbank Gardens. He’s the guy that was a genius when it came to creating new forms of plants. A lot of times though, when it came to roses (and probably other flowers as well) they took out the scent. I don’t know about you but what’s the point of an unscented flower? I can’t remember if it was just lost in the process or simply taken out. Although I wonder if people with allergies would be able to have unscented flowers? Anyone out there know?
Make sure you stop and smell the roses, the scented ones, of course. Later.
