Say hello

Meet Demon Eyes Kyo, also known as the thousand man slayer. He's an excellent warrior and watching him kill people is always a thrill.

So this is the current layout. I like it for the moment. I've been wanting to do something with this wallpaper for quite awhile. I applied an exclusion to it which is why it sort of looks like a negative image.

I've decided not to import the old entries. I had issues with them the first time I tried and they weren't linking up properly. So I think since I am so used to starting new it shouldn't be an issue.

Enjoy and thanks for being so patient.

Hmmmm... Grrrr!

Apparently there are some issues with the coding. I am going through it line by line to find out where it is. Until it is solved, obviously, the menu will be whereever it wants to.

More Later.

Goodbye Halloween, I'll miss you

Well, Halloween is over ( and it's hAlloween. Why is everyone spelling it with an o? ) ..... The splash page will get redone in normal SE Fashion. Otherside.... I've got to start working on the coding. I really really do.

Love to all. My pic for halloween will go up tonight. Laters.

Future Plans

So far I have the next two layouts planned. One was made by Sam and the other was made by me. There's a rumor that he's working on another one for me. I made one for him that I think he likes. He hasn't officially let me know if he wants the files or not.

So I've got a few questions to answer and a project due tomorrow. I should be working on it instead of blogging but I needed a break from the reading. There's so much to read.

I really like making layouts. Wonder if there's any money in it.

Oooooo M F G

Yeah... that's exactly what I said when Sam sent me a link to the latest layout he made for me. So now I've got the next three layouts planned, and no there won't be any sneak peeks posted here. You'll have to wait and trust me, they are worth it.

I don't know what's going on with me regarding doing layouts but I am having so much fun doing it. I think Sam is, too. We enjoy the same shows and we enjoy a lot of the same characters and actors/actresses. Also, we have great taste. So obviously we are going to enjoy each others layouts.

I've been needing to use these creative juices for quite a long time and right now I think layouts is where it is going to be. It'll work for me!

Bare Essentials

Couldn't help myself. Isn't she beautiful? I wish I could get my hair that color. I thought she would represent Disillusioned well. I love this layout. I hope you do, too.

Change

Time to change my colors again, so here's a new layout for your enjoyment. There might be a few minor changes that I make to it while I have it displayed, so there's your warning before you think you've gone and lost your mind.

Go have fun. Laters!

Thinking

I know, it's horrible to see that I'm thinking. Seriously thinking about starting a design portion to sweetly-evil. I'm just not sure how to go about it.

I think I'll start with school. We have to do a project website and we have to utilize what we are learning. So we'll see. If the site I create for class turns out decently and gets some good criticism, then perhaps I'll do it.

What do you think? Would you use a layout created by sweetly-evil?

I suppose we'll find out.

Frazzled

Ok, the new splash page is up and running after a shitload of aggravation since I uninstalled Paint Shop Pro 9 to make more room for schoolwork programs. Yes, I uninstalled my beloved Paint Shop Pro. I couldn't figure out, even with the help file, how to make ImageReady create me a fucking image map for the splash page and you know how I love making my image maps.

So Honey helped me out by finding a tutorial on it and seeing what I was doing wrong to save the html. The help file finally showed me how to do the map itself but the only help it had regarding saving the file was in what form I wanted it saved in. Not much help when it came to the html side of it at all.

Then I got everything uploaded and I thought it worked, but no, the links weren't working. I figured out what was wrong there and the image quit working. I had to rename the image because I used a different one when I uploaded it. So now, finally, it is up and running perfectly.

I'm again seriously considering creating a layout/banner/some sort of graphically inclined design section. Honey may help me with this.

Anyone else interested in offering your assistance in this endeavor?

Ok, I'm off. Laters.

Laid Out

New layout again. Couldn't help myself. Saw the image, had to make a layout.

That is all for now. I am off to shower and to bed so I can go back to Hell tomorrow. G'night.

Up and Running

SSB - Stupid Silly Bitch is up and running and ready for you to join - you ladies that is. There aren't any prerequisites to joining. I am looking for hardworking women who get treated badly and badmouthed about at work or by family.

Anyone who has read my blog over the past few months has been reading about how I'm a Stupid Silly Bitch at work because I asked a question that led to a search by about 5 people. After everything was over and done with, I was being badmouthed by two of the people who had helped me out. Apparently because I've worked there for over 6 months now I should know the price of everything that isn't priced in the store, stuff that has been sitting there for a year or more.

So if this is the kind of place you work for, where you do bust your butt to get your work done and help others while you're doing it, then please feel free to email me and join Stupid Silly Bitch. There are some requests that are posted at the site.

New Layout: Mayhem

I named this layout Mayhem. Enjoy!

October 16, 2007

Boring, I know!

Yes, I know, the site looks so boring due to the fact that there's no amazing layout. I have a layout created, but I may not use it. As for the other blogs, I have to wait until I get my laptop back in order to redo their layouts. The actual files that contain this information, I believe, is encased on it.

I thought I had saved them off of here, but now that I think about it all I did was copy the files as they are. I thought about uploading the index/css/etc files and replacing them, but I know that when the blog gets rebuilt that it'll be overridden with whatever the templates say. So it will take a bit of time before I get them worked out, and this time I will save the templates. (You would think I'd have done that previously with all the issues I've had in the past, but no, I apparently didn't learn a damn thing.)

The job hunt still continues. I am getting an A in database, woohoo me, and the Little Lady is doing great in school - As and Bs for her, too.

Ok, so I basically just wanted to post to let people know I am still breathing. And eventually that the blogs will all once again have some color to them. Laters.

Note to Layout Designers for the New Styles

I really like Movable Type, even with all the issues I've had with it over the years. I really do. I love the fact that the newer versions have this thing called StyleCatcher that lets you apply styles to the blogs in a matter of seconds (sometimes minutes). What I HATE about StyleCatcher is that the DESIGNERS are sometimes airheaded idiots.

Yes, that's what I said. AIRHEADED IDIOTS. Re-read that to get it through your head (I'm sure I'll get bitched at for this).

So anyway, these Airheaded Idiots are designing Styles and Layouts for four different types of blogs and, let me be honest, there are a few I think are really well done. There are also a lot that are boring. I don't like boring, so the few styles that I like I want to use without the need to go through the fracking CSS file to find out WHY the images aren't working, why the styles aren't applying, etc.

So these really intelligent designers (airheaded idiots) did something really fracking bright. Instead of naming the CSS file what they put in the base-weblog.css file they named it something different. That's right! THEY NAMED IT SOMETHING ELSE!

Ok, I know I am not the brightest freaking person on the block (Getting As and Bs in Web Design!) but I know that if I want to link to a file for my style sheet I better know what the frack I named it.

So this style here that I have applied is called Tropical Dream. Pretty isn't it? In the CSS template for this blog it states the name of the css file being tropical_dream, yet when I look in the FOLDER where the THEME is located, the name of the file is (drumroll please) STYLES.CSS!!!

Obviously you can see how this would create an issue with the link between the StyleSheet and the Blog.

Now I want to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that this theme is not the only one I have had problems with! I have had problems with many themes that I have tried to use, those include: ShadowDancers, Espresso @ Midnight (currently showing on braindead), Bamboo Dream, Oriental Dream (the sidebars never showed up) and several more since the whole StyleCatcher thing emerged from the getgo.

Here's the note I want to provide to the future generations of individuals and groups that are going to design such StyleCatcher layouts. Watch where you put your files. If you are going to put your image files in an image folder, make sure you indicate that in the image links on the stylesheet (I refuse to go through and replace every single thing, so I simply REMOVE the images folder altogether and upload the images into the THEME folder) and make sure that you name your fracking files what they are supposed to be. If the name of your theme in the base-weblog.css file is going to be My_Theme.css then name the style sheet My_Theme.css. That REALLY isn't difficult.

So let's get rid of the idiotic airheads and get some designer geniuses, ok? Ok. In the words of Wichi, because I think he'd agree that this is a form of laziness - LAZINESS HAPPENS!

November 2, 2007

Oh no, she's thinking again!

Run, Run for your life!

Ok, not really. Yes, I'm thinking and it is a dangerous endeavor, but I've taken the percautions necessary such as thinking in small doses and stopping when the smell of smoke enters the immediate area.

So Honey has been trying to make me more comfortable on his laptop since he can use the Media Center to do his surfing and tv/movie watching, etc. He's sweet and I owe him lots of naughtiness to repay him for the things he is doing in order to make me more comfortable on his laptop. Yes, mine is still in pieces. No, we haven't got time to get a good look at the issue.

I will be honest though, I will *never* buy another warranty with Circuit City ever again. After we painstakingly took apart the laptop we looked over everything, under bright lights no less, to find the 'liquid damage' they so claimed. As far as my untrained eyes could tell, there wasn't any liquid damage to find. So I honestly don't know what the heck they are thinking. Perhaps they realized that the laptop is 4 years old, so there must be a way to deny coverage and liquid damage is the easiest way to go.

So my wonderful Honey is making me as comfortable on his laptop as he can and will eventually be building me a new computer, which everything I have on my laptop hard drive will be transferred to and then we'll see what happens.

He didn't want to tell me he was going to build a new computer for me, or how little it would cost, but I sort of forced it out of him. It is going to be my early Christmas gift. I talked him out of doing what he originally planned until he did more research. He can build me a computer cheaper than buying and restoring one, so that is the way we are going. He can also get me more ram and more hard drive space than I've ever had and cheaper than what the place he had looked at was offering.

I still want a clean house for Christmas, though. Perhaps for my birthday?

Anyway, I've been thinking that 1) I need to start writing again. Yes, I know I have said this so many times over the years that it's gotten to be a joke, I'm sure. I figure since I have all this time that I need to utilize it before it's gone and I'm working full time again. 2) I need to rejoin FlyLady.Net so that I can get this place clean myself one day at a time, one zone at a time, and get it in the order I want it so that we can actually have people over and I don't feel embarrassed about the mess they have to go through just to sit down or whatever.

3) I'm going to attempt to make styles for this version of Movable Type. Yeah, the way that they have done it with the Style Contest, but better. The file names will match, the paths will match the files, etc. I have been wanting to do this for awhile, but I feel as if I am unable to because of my computer being out of commission.

4) I need to make that photo slideshow disc I've been promising to myself. I plan to give it as gifts of all the photos and videos that we have taken since being out here and on the trip itself. Again, I was waiting for my computer to be working in order to do this, but I think it would be best if I just get my arse working on it soon.

There's so much to do. Ohwell. I am off for now, perhaps I'll get to update later. Laters.

Coming Soon - To A Blog Near You!

Ok, so I've been working in between doing kitchen duty and homework on a new layout the past few days. I think it's ready to be tested on the computer - yes I want to test it before I use it so that I know it's going to work. I've been attempting to do a layout the way this one was made. I may have to make a few changes due to differences regarding the way the background was done, but it shouldn't be a huge problem either way.

It is going to be primarily - you know I love making them - black background with white and a touch of crimson.

I'm not sure where I got the idea for the layout. It's nothing major, it's nothing sexy like I normally do, but I want to figure out how to make layouts for the way MT works and then I'll get more daring as I go.

Other than that, things are going well. Getting an A in class - Woot! Starting a new class Thursday and the Little Lady turns 13 on Friday. Yeah, THIRTEEN.

I'm scared, too, but you don't have to hide under your desk.....

Disillusioned Remade - Layout Version: Rose

Welcome to the latest version of Disillusioned. There are still some things that I have to fix, mainly the buttons for comments. Yes, I reopened comments. You no longer have to sign in to have your say. Enjoy.

So I am sort of happy with this layout. For some reason the modules wouldn't work properly for me. I don't know why. I'm not sure if there is something that is over-riding the stylesheet or not. I did everything I could to figure out why they were being messed up. So I had to go through and enter the image links manually throughout the different templates. Once I figure out why the modules aren't working for me, I'll get that fixed.

So class for Database is finished. I have to fill out forms for graduation purposes soon - I graduate in March as long as I keep up the good grades.

I have kept the kitchen fairly clean for two days now. Both counters are cleaned off and the dishes were done two days in a row, yay me. The living room is starting to look a little better, but there is a lot of work yet that must be done.

So the list of things I have to do for tomorrow are: Finish the living room, vacuum the living room, re-sweep the kitchen floor and mop it, clean the bathroom so that it sparkles. Hopefully I can get these things done.

So tomorrow is thursday and I start a new class, yay. Web Development 2. We'll see how that goes. I'm sure you'll be here for the updates. Until then, Laters.

Help Needed With MT-Blogroll Please

Today I tried installing MT-Blogroll 2.51, I never used the previous version, I didn't even know this existed until today. It installed fine and I remembered to chmod the cgi file. The problem is that when I add a link or category they do not show up on the link or category pages. The dashboard counts the number added, but they just simply don't show up. In this case there isn't any way for me to edit them let alone delete the duplicate I created (since I didn't know it was there).

I went to Movalog and combed through the message boards on the support forum to no avail. There isn't a true manual, either (at least not in my opinion). If anyone can assist me with the issue I am having or if there is further information needed (I am not receiving any errors) please let me know.

Thanks and have a beautiful evening. Laters!

Disilusioned May Be Up and Down

I'm going to start ripping apart MT's templates now that homework for the week is done. No, I am not going to do this online, I'll be copying the current templates out and redesigning them offline in notepad.

The warning is basically for when I start pasting in the new templates that things may not work or appear broken for a time, please be patient and everything will be up and running as soon as possible. Laters.

Update On New Layout

So I've been working on the new layout and I have the index page completed. I haven't tested it out yet, so I am going to do that to see what changes need to be made before I start working on the categories, date-based and individual entry archives.

I've created all new images, a new background, everything again. There will be two menus, one left, one right with the blog in the center (boring? no.) and the colors are the same as these - black background, crimson and white coloring. Some of the crimson has turned pink (gah. I know) due to filters and so forth being applied to the design.

I could always change the color, but I don't want to.

I love making layouts, perhaps a bit too much!

I have a headache, not sure why, I didn't do any drinking last night but I didn't get much sleep either. I'm off. Laters.

Layout Update

Ok, so the layout change is pretty much completed. I hope everything is working for you. The only issue I seem to be having on my screen is the fact that it scrolls to the right for no reason. I think there is a percentage issue somewhere. I'll figure it out eventually. The layout was made on a laptop featuring 1280x800 resolution, so if everything is gigantic on what you are using, please let me know and I'll make some changes.

Sorry I didn't post anything yesterday, I'll find two photos to do another double dose for you and post that a little bit later. I'm just wanting to make sure everything is working properly and so far it seems to be.

I'm going to make a few changes in the settings here shortly. I may start accepting trackbacks, but they will have to be approved before I allow them to show. I'm sure many of you that blog understand this with all the lovely spam regarding pills and porn.

Alright, well I am going to go dig up two photos right after changing the config a bit. Laters.

December 10, 2007

I got bored, so I made this...

Yes, I got really bored with the layout of Disillusioned. And since I've been having issues with something on the site (I believe ad-wise) when loading the site in the first place I've decided to piece it together bit by bit until I figure out what the problem is. Whatever is causing me grief will probably go bye-bye.

If you are reading at this time I apologize for any inconveniences as I'm attempting to get a new layout up and solve the problem with the Operation Error I get. This post will probably vanish when all issues are resolved. Good day.

Done and Done

Everything should be working properly. I'm really starting to hate MT Stylesheets. The ones they made for this version (due to the whole stylecatcher thing) are extremely complicated. They are overcomplicated and that's not a stretch, they actually did a lot of cleaning up (or so I've read) for MT 4.0, but since I can't afford to upgrade the site to include MySql and they've cut out the use of Berkley Database on MT 4.0 I can't use it.

I never got any answers as to why MT BlogRoll doesn't work either. And I haven't gotten any answers as to why I have to go to the freaking comment feed in order to remove unwanted and publish wanted comments. I am not thrilled about that at all.

Yes, I checked permissions. I'm afraid of uploading the files having to do with comments because then I think it'll wipe out the ones (the few) I've received. And I like comments, I really do.

I'll probably be changing the little images I have been using for headers, otherwise this layout is Done. Remember Celestial-Star.Net? Thanks to her tutorials I was able to make this. I did not however leave it in slices to load. I just don't feel right doing that for some reason. I made it so the image loads quickly though by optimizing it.

The Operation: Error I've been getting is still there. I removed *everything* from the right hand networking menu. I then added one thing in at a time as I was working on the main index. I added I think the image link to Globe of Blogs and it gave me the error. So I removed it and went on to the next thing. It gave me the error again. I am completely confused as to why I get it. It came up on the Little Lady's computer, too so I know it isn't just me.

If anyone knows of any reason as to why I'd get this error, please contact me either in comments or email. I'd really appreciate it. I want people to be able to view my site.

Other than that, this layout is meant for 1024x768 but should work on resolutions up to 1280x800 (which I am presently on). If you are using 800x600 it will not work properly as I went back to using pixel-width instead of percentage. Sorry, I get agitated because they want us to design for 800x600 resolution when most people have upgraded to 1024x768. This is Honey's laptop and it's best resolution is at 1280x800, anything less and it seriously looks horrible.

I know I haven't done the Daily Photo for two days now but don't worry, I'll Triple-Dose you tomorrow. For now, I am not sure what I am going to do. I am not tired. Perhaps I'll go surfing. Laters.

Fixed

Comments, Comment Preview, Comment related stuff has been fixed. Comment form will now show where it is supposed to be along with the preview of your comment. Comments will still be moderated.

Now if only I can get the comments inside MT working again, that would be great. If anyone knows why they vanished, please leave a comment!

When Boredom Strikes

I try to strike back. It doesn't always work and I end up even more frustrated than ever. Sometimes I try to read. Sometimes I try to write. Other times I screw around with stuff in Photoshop doing different tutorials I find around the web. Yesterday I started making this and today I added finishing touches. I don't really think much of it.

The brushes used were found at Aethereality and the image of the woman was taken from this image (make sure you have your pop-up blocker armed and ready).

As always, click to enlarge. So yes, I have no idea why I went trolling for a wallpaper, I didn't even know what I was looking for. I like Need For Speed games so I decided to grab this wallpaper and steal the woman in it. Not hard at all. I followed a tutorial over at Aethereality to turn her from a photo to a sketch. Then I started all kinds of other effects. There are around 10 layers in the original file, which is the same size as the wallpaper, 2 of those laters are different gradients, 2 are full of different brushes. One you won't be able to tell is actually a brush. But that's ok.

I enjoy doing tutorials. It helps me learn new things and (sometimes) gets the creative juices flowing. Anyway, I am off. Enjoy the image. If anyone really likes it and wants it wallpaper size, leave me your info in a comment and I'll share. Laters.

Temptation Conquers

Ok, so I made a new layout.

What can I say?

I wanted something with vibrant colors. I was leaning towards reds and violets but then ended up with yellows and oranges and reds.

I couldn't resist. I had this itch in me to make a new layout. How on earth could I ever deny myself that? Especially when I took my time and worked on it for a few days instead of a couple of hours?

I had been playing around in Photoshop and searching the internet for ideas and images for a couple of weeks now. I tried to push away the urge to make a new layout. I tried to tell myself I needed something specific in order to make the new layout so that it wouldn't be possible and, in frustration, I'd stop trying. That almost worked.

But it only worked for a few days. I believe I got the female vector image from DeviantArt, but I am honestly not sure. I download brushes and fonts all the time and lately, unless they have something in there stating where it's from or who it's by - I won't remember where I got it from.

Anyway. I hope everyone likes it. Let me know if there are any issues. I know there are some old graphics hanging around but I can't find them. Aggravates the hell out of me that they are there and I can't figure out where they are exactly. Eventually I will get them out of there.

Other than this I got half the kitchen cleaned. I am so happy. Laters.

Portfolio Blog

I am still working on the main portfolio, but I have gotten the blog up and running. There is only one entry and I was having some layout issues that (hopefully) are now fixed. Using IE 7.0 at 1280x800 resolution everything works. If anyone has issues viewing the blog on another browser or resolution, holler and I'll see what I can do. I know that I am supposed to test on all resolutions, monitors, browsers, etc, but everything looks horrid in any other resolution. Unless it's a game meant to be played in a different resolution. So I need your help.

Again, there is only one entry, but the blog will basically contain information about what I am working on, include step by step changes made, tutorials used, and more. When the portfolio itself is up it'll contain everything that is worked on in categories, my resume and other information pertaining to things that are to be contained in a portfolio.

My friend says she thinks my idea of creating an intranet for families is a great idea. She is very tech-friendly and is one of those who wants a digital calendar on her refrigerator so that everyone can enter their schedules and have them readily available. I may be inclined to make her an intranet and she can help me work on issues with it (if she has time) and give me insight into what to expect. This could include everything from her work schedule (she works like 3 jobs, sometimes more, plus being a mom of two and a wife), her husbands work and school schedules, the kids' summer, school, activities schedules and account user names, passwords, bill paying information such as scheduling, amounts and possibly budget forms.

With help, such as her testing and giving me feedback, I could definitely make a go of such a thing. The issue would be families taking the time to enter the information into the intranet. I suppose I could offer that service as well and sign a non-disclosure agreement of some form and charge a small fee for updating it.

Anyway, this post is mainly regarding the Portfolio Blog. Here is a link: http://blog.mcmwebdesign.org. I am off again. I need to fill this with projects and graphics and other things. Laters.

New Design

Quite the opposite of what I had before with all the color, huh? Yeah I wanted something quite a bit different and I think I reached it. I was working on a few other ideas that haven't quite panned out yet. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. We'll see.

Today I have done two loads of laundry which are hanging on the line and planted flower and veggie seeds with my honey. We are going to be set on food for awhile. He told me I need to start picking my lettuce. I was like.. erhm? And he reminded that it is leaf lettuce, not head lettuce. So I plan to start picking some and bagging it tomorrow. Not a lot, but some. I guess it stops producing three weeks after you start plucking. Or something like that. I'll have to take photos of the greenhouse. I think we went a little overboard with the beans, they pretty much exploded. I am hoping the carrots turn out as they are pretty much buried under the leaves and vines of the beans and cucumbers. I have a tomato that is almost ready to be plucked. Hmmm, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers... almost ready for a salad!

Anyway, about the layout. There are some items that are a bit off and need fixing (the footer image) and I need to adjust the link color. Off for now. I'm exhausted.
